After the special and festive evening we experienced yesterday, it’s party time again today! Mike is celebrating his birthday slash his 29th year on this earth.
I’ve talked to the host and asked if I could make pizza tonight. As friendly as they are they agree, the leftovers from Thanksgiving go in the freezer and I get the ingredients to make pizza!
In the morning I start cleaning up the mess from yesterdays party and in the afternoon I start with making the dough, because it needs to rise for at least 2 hours.
Rolling dough with candlelight
I make 8 pizzas for 12 people. Unfortunately, I don’t know how the gas ovens work and the guys are in town and the generator is off and the batteries are dead. So, I roll the pizza dough with a rolling pin by candlelight in a house made of straw, it’s great! All the men soon come home and turn on the light and the ovens.
A party in the ‘man cave’
We celebrate Mike’s birthday in the man cave. The fireplace is on and the kids got balloons to decorate it. Mike gets a gift from the host; (Although they don’t support it) a packet of tobacco, the famous bottles of wine and some pocket money. Wow, thanks!
Nathanal also has a gift for Mike: a bottle of whiskey: Glen Feddich, thanks mate!
Together with our fellow helpers we agreed to dress up today. We got a bag full of clothes which Ghita was planning on to bring to the thrift store. Nathanael comes in a pink shirt, Ludmila in a much too large, white nightgown, Annaeal wears a fluffy green vest and a scarf like a nun and Marc is wearing a far too low green three-quarter pants =)
After the great pizza the birthday boy gets a cake with candles which he blows out all at the same time. Time for a new wish! It was a great night, like a birthday is supposed to be!
